The
Group Strategies and Interventions with Traumatized Children and Adolescents
online course will focus on the benefit, strategies, interventions, and considerations
important to facilitating group work with traumatized children and adolescents.
Course content will introduce participants to themes, sensory based activities,therapeutic
books, games, and creative interventions to implement in the group setting
with traumatized youth.
Learning Objectives
- Learn practical tools and important themes to consider when working with traumatized
youth;
- Be introduced to group interventions and resources that incorporate sensory-based
intervention, therapeutic books, and art expression;
- Gain a trauma informed understanding about how these strategies and interventions
can promote safety, emotional expression,coping, validation, and normalizing
when working with traumatized youth;
- Enhance your awareness and insight about the benefits
of using hands-on and creative interventions in group work with traumatized
youth.

Instructor
Gretchen
M. Miller, MA, ATR-BC, CTC is a Registered Board Certified Art Therapist
and TLC Certified Trauma Consultant practicing in Cleveland, Ohio. She specializes
in working with children, adolescents, and families impacted by childhood trauma,homelessness,
domestic violence, and grief & loss. Gretchen is an adjunct faculty member
for the Art Therapy & Counseling Graduate Program at Ursuline College,
teaches and presents regionally and nationally on the application of art therapy
and trauma intervention and co-authored a chapter on domestic violence and
authored a chapter on adolescents in the Second Edition
